Neighborhoods
At Short Term Stay Dallas, we want to introduce you to one of the biggest cities in Texas and the United States. Dallas is a hub of business, entertainment, and shopping. It is also home to some very diverse neighborhoods. No matter which neighborhood around the city you go to, you are sure to find something interesting going on.
Deep Ellum
Those looking for short term rentals in Dallas should give Deep Ellum a look. The neighborhood's name is a corruption of "deep end of Elm Street." Deep Ellum is a neighborhood full of sassy shops and large apartments, many of which are loft style. It's also a hub for the arts and entertainment, featuring a lively night scene with its many clubs where you can find live folk, blues, jazz, and rock performances. Its close proximity to downtown Dallas ensures that you are never far from something to do.

Richardson
If you are looking for a furnished apartment in Dallas, you can also consider the Richardson area. A suburb to the north of the city, Richardson is a popular area for college-bound students, as it's the home of the University of Texas at Dallas. It is also a popular place for business, with over 5,000 businesses operating in the area. Over the years, Richardson has constantly ranked as one of the best places to live in the United States.
North Dallas
If you're in the market for furnished apartments in Dallas, then you should not overlook North Dallas. The neighborhood is known for its lakes and rolling hills, as well as its big houses and large shopping centers. You'll find many stores, boutiques, and restaurants throughout the area.
The architecture of the neighborhood is also a rather striking feature, with many of the homes featuring old-fashioned designs. Modern architecture among the houses in North Dallas tends to be rare. North Dallas is one of the most popular residential locations in all of Dallas.
Plano
Plano is another suburb found to the north of Dallas. The people who live in Plano tend to have higher incomes, with the suburb once ranking as the wealthiest city in the United States (back in 2008). Plano is also home to the corporate headquarters of some of the nation's largest corporations, including JC Penney, Frito-Lay, Rent-A-Center, Ericsson, and Siemens PLM Software.
Lewisville
A suburb to the northwest of Dallas, Lewisville was one of the fastest-growing cities in terms of population in the United States from 2000 to 2010. As the home of Lewisville Lake, the suburb has become a popular recreational hub for people in the Dallas area. It also features a highly diverse population, with Caucasians, African Americans, Asians, and Latinos all living in the area.
Victory Park
Anyone looking for a short term rental in Dallas may want to consider Victory Park. The "greenest" neighborhood in Dallas, Victory Park's electricity is supplied by 100% renewable energy sources. In addition, over 1,000 trees have been planted in the area. There are also jogging trails and open areas to go along with the many shops, entertainment, and nightlife venues in the neighborhood.
Oak Lawn
Anyone looking for Dallas furnished apartments might want to check out the Oak Lawn area. The neighborhood has many apartments, condominiums, and single-family residences all packed tightly together. There are also many retail shops nearby, making Oak Lawn a popular destination for shoppers. Both the art scene and night scenes are very lively in the neighborhood, with the city's Art District very close by and many clubs to visit. With its creek and several parks in the area, Oak Lawn is also popular among nature fans.
Farmers Branch
To the northwest of Dallas is the suburb of Farmers Branch. This area is very business heavy, with over 3,000 businesses and over 250 corporate headquarters housed here. Some of the companies include Celanese Corporation, I2 Technologies, and Taco Bueno. In 2007, Farmers Branch became the first community in the United States to place a ban on landlords renting housing and apartments to most illegal immigrants.
Uptown
Those looking for short term rentals Dallas may want to give Uptown a look. A pedestrian-friendly area, Uptown is very popular among younger professionals because of its urban lifestyle. The area has seen some redevelopment over the years, but the streetcars that still stroll through the streets give the neighborhood something of an old-school vibe. The art and theater scenes are very strong in Uptown, which draws even more of the younger crowd in.
Southeast Dallas
While Southeast Dallas was once one of the more rural parts of the city, an increase in industrial and commercial development since the 1980's has turned the area into a more populated residential neighborhood. New homes and shopping centers have been popping up in the area, and this has attracted a large number of residents into what was once one of the quieter areas of the city.
Carrollton
Someone looking for a Dallas furnished apartment may want to consider the Carrollton area. A suburb to the northwest of the city, Carrollton has frequently been named as one of the best places in the United States to live. The suburb is predominately Caucasian, but there is also a sizable Asian population as well. A number of corporations have their headquarters housed in Carrollton, including Heelys, Home Interiors and Gifts, and Accor North America.
Addison
Another suburb located to the north of Dallas is Addison. The area officially calls itself the "Town of Addison," but it is still classified as a city. It underwent some major growth in the 1980's, and has become a very popular place for businesses. While there are only around 13,000 people who live in Addison, there are around 100,000 people working in the area during the day in various businesses.

Getting Around
You would think it would be difficult to get around a major city like Dallas, but thanks to a well-designed public transportation and freeway system, it is actually pretty easy. There are taxi services available as well. In addition, there are a couple of major airports in the Dallas area.
Public Transportation
Dallas' public transportation system is run by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) authority. Anyone seeking Dallas short term rentals who wants to use public transportation will find that both bus and rail services are available. While the public transportation system tends to have some of the usual major city congestion, the Dallas transportation system is known for being both clean and efficient.

There are 120 bus routes operated by DART that cover most of Dallas and the surrounding neighborhoods. Fares typically start at around $1.75 and can go up to around $4 if you purchase an all-day pass. The bus is the more popular of DART's services, with over 120,000 bus trips taking place per day. There are several transit centers, transfer centers, and Park and Ride locations within the bus system.
As for rail, DART operates a light rail system that has four main lines. The Red Line services areas along a route from Parker Road to Westmoreland, with a total of 25 stations as part of its route. The Blue Line has service between Downtown Rowlett and Ledbetter, with 21 routes along the route. There are plans to expand service for the Blue Line into Camp Wisdom and the University of North Texas at Dallas in 2018. The Green Line has service between North Carrollton/Frankford and Buckner, with 24 stations along the route. The Orange Line runs between Belt Line and Parker Road, with plans to expand service to include DFW Airport in late 2014.
Taxis
Someone looking for a Dallas short term rental who would rather travel by taxi has a number of cab companies in the city to choose from. Keep in mind, however, that fares start at around $2.25 and only go up for each additional mile. This makes taking a taxi in Dallas somewhat expensive. The cab companies in Dallas that you can choose from include:
- Star Cab Dallas
- Alamo Cab Company
- State Taxi Cab Dallas
- King Cab Company Dallas
- Freedom Cab Dallas
Driving
Those looking for furnished apartments Dallas who would rather drive will find it an easier time than you would see in many other major cities. There is still rush hour traffic to deal with, which makes things congested at times, but it is not quite as bad in Dallas as you might find in other cities. Rush hours in the city are typically 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. If you want to avoid most of the congestion, do not drive at those times. If it cannot be avoided, the freeway system in Dallas makes it a bit easier to get around.
Greater Dallas is served by four major highways: Interstate 35E (I-35E, also called Stemmons Freeway), which runs north & south; Interstate 20 (I-20), which runs east & west; Interstate 30 (I-30), which runs west & northeast; and Interstate 45 (I-45). The local highway which encircles the city, and which connects all these Dallas highways is the LBJ Freeway (I-635). There is also the Dallas North Tollway, which connects Downtown Dallas with the suburb of Frisco and all towns in between.
Airports
Those looking for short term rentals in Dallas who will be traveling by air have two major airports in the city to choose from. The largest is Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), which serves over 50 million people per year. This makes DFW the eighth busiest airport in the world. The airport is located in Grapevine, Texas, which is around 15 miles from Downtown Dallas. It serves both domestic and international flights. It is the largest hub for the American Airlines, which operates more flights there than any other carrier.
Dallas Love Field, located about six miles northwest of Dallas' central business district, is the other major airport in the area. Unlike DFW, this is more of a regional airport, with a majority of flights to and from the Southwest region of the United States. At this airport, Southwest Airlines is the biggest and busiest carrier.
